COMMANDER SECURITY FORCES (WEST) PAID FIRST OFFICIAL VISIT TO 143 INFANTRY BRIGADE

Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP after assuming duties as the 13th Commander of Security Forces (West), made his first formal field visit to 143 Infantry Brigade Headquarters and its under command Battalions on 17 June 2022.

Initially, the Commander Security Forces (West) visited 143 Infantry Brigade Headquarters and thereby, the Commander of 143 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier T M F Kichilan RWP RSP, Commanding Officers of the Battalions under 143 Infantry Brigade warmly welcomed the Commander Security Forces (West) to the camp premises. Thereafter, the Commander Security Forces (West) was invited to plant a sapling in front of the office complex to mark his arrival. After that, Commander 143 Infantry Brigade delivered a comprehensive briefing regarding the role and tasks and the present situation of the Area of Responsibility. Thereafter, the West Commander addressed the troops of 143 Infantry Brigade and he emphasized some salient aspects regarding discipline and present duties of the soldiers. As well as he appreciated the commitment of troops who rendered their potential service in the past and present scenarios. Similarly, before departure from the 143 Infantry Brigade Headquarters, the West Commander was presented a memento as a token of appreciation by the Commander 143 Infantry Brigade.

As per the day’s itinerary, the West Commander visited 16 Battalion of Gajaba Regiment located in Thabbowa and 1 Sri Lanka National Guard deployed at Wariyapola which belong to 143 Infantry Brigade. During the Battalion visits Commanding Officers of the relevant Battalions welcomed the West Commander to the respective Battalions in accordance with military formalities. In addition to that, Commanding Officers also briefed their exclusive duties to the Commander Security Forces (West) during the Battalion visits.

Furthermore, during the day’s visit, the Commander Security Forces (West) did not forget to inspect the surrounding of the camps and the welfare of the soldiers. Moreover, he inspected several key places including armouries, ration storeses, and kitchen premises inside the camps. He also instructed to respective officers on how to maintain and expand the facilities of the relevant camp premises.

The General Officer Commanding of 14 Infantry Division, Sector Commander of Kurunegala Sector and several Senior Officers of Security Forces Headquarters (West) and 14 Infantry Division accompanied the Commander Security Forces (West) during the visit.
