COMMANDER SECURITY FORCES (WEST) MAKES AN OFFICIAL VISIT TO THE 142 INFANTRY BRIGADE

Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP paid his maiden visit to 142 Infantry Brigade and its under command Battalions on 25 May 2022 upon assumption of duties as the Commander Security Forces (West).

Upon his arrival to the 142 Infantry Brigade Headquarters, the Commander, Security Forces (West) was welcomed with a drive pass by the Commander 142 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier H V A Somaweera RWP RSP USP, Commanding Officers belong to 142 Infantry Brigade, Sector Commanders and staff officers of 142 Infantry Brigade. Afterwards, a comprehensive briefing on the role and tasks within the AOR was delivered by the Commander 142 Infantry Brigade and his staff officers. Similarly, the commander of 142 Infantry Brigade presented a memento to the Commander, Security Forces (West) to mark his arrival.

After visiting the 142 Infantry Brigade Headquarters, the Commander Security Forces (West) visited, the 7 Battalion of Gamunu Watch located in Mattakkuliya and thereby, he was received by the Commanding Officer of 7 Battalion Gamunu Watch at the Battalion Headquarters. The Commander Security Forces (West) was welcomed and greeted through a drive pass at the entrance in keeping with military traditions before he was ushered in.

Thereafter, the Commander Security Forces (West) addressed the troops belonging to the 142 Infantry Brigade at the Headquarters of 7th Battalion Gamunu watch and he emphasized his vision. Furthermore, in his address, the Commander stressed upon the importance of maintaining unity among the Officers and the Other Ranks and also he highlighted the importance of maintaining the highest standard of discipline at all levels and act in a way that does not tarnish the image of the Army. Moreover, the Commander did not forget to pen a complimentary remark in the ‘Visitors book’ before departure from the camp premises.

As per the day’s itinerary, the Commander, Security Forces (West) visited the 14 Battalion of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment located at Tripoli and the Commander was received by the Commanding Officer of 14 Battalion of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on arrival at the Battalion Headquarters premises. Then the Commanding Officer introduced his subordinate officers to the Commander Security Forces (West). Further, before departure from the camp premises, the Commander joined for a group photograph.

Finally, marking the end of the day's visit, the Commander Security Forces (West) visited the 15 Drone Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery which is located at Panaluwa. Thereby, the Commander Security Forces (West) was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer of 15 Drone Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery.

During the day's visit, the Commander Security Forces (West) took time off to inspect several key places which were located at the visited camps Including office complexes, armouries, Q stores and the welfare of the soldiers. Moreover, during the inspections of the camps, the Commander Security Forces (West) also inspected kitchen premises and dining halls of Other Ranks. Thereby, he has observed the utensils being used to utilized for preparation of meals and exchanged his views with the Brigade Commander and Commanding Officers.

Brigadier General Staff Brigadier K W S Perera RWP, Brigadier Admin and Quartering Brigadier G D R U Galhenage of the Security Forces Headquarters (West) and Colonel General Staff 14 Infantry Division accompanied the Commander during the visit.
