Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Commander Security Forces (West), conducted an official visit to the 572 Infantry Brigade on October 24. The visit began with an inspection of a newly proposed land area for the possible relocation of the Brigade Headquarters. During the site evaluation, Commander Security Forces (West) instructed the Brigade Commander to carry out a detailed threat assessment and emphasized the importance of strategic planning and efficient use of resources in relocating the headquarters.
Upon arrival at the Brigade Headquarters, Major General Lanka Amarapala was received with a ceremonial guard turnout and warmly welcomed by Brigadier K.T.P. De Silva RSP ndu psc, General Officer Commanding 61 Infantry Division, along with Colonel A.P.A.D.D. Dharmakeerthi RWP RSP USP psc ptsc, Commander of the 572 Infantry Brigade. During the visit, Commander 572 Infantry Brigade provided a detailed briefing on the brigade’s operational role, tasks, and the prevailing situation within its Area of Responsibility.
Following the visit to the Brigade Headquarters, the Commander Security Forces (West) proceeded to the 8th Battalion Gemunu Watch, where he was honored with a drive-past. Addressing the troops, Major General Lanka Amarapala discussed key contemporary issues and the evolving socio-development tasks particularly on the role and tasks of the Army. He highlighted the importance of the Army’s cooperation with the Police and other supporting agencies, maintaining the dignity of the military, and upholding self-discipline. He stressed the need for proactive planning to address future challenges, ensuring the Army is prepared to safeguard national security. Major General Lanka Amarapala also inspected the operational readiness of the disaster relief equipment at the 8 Battalion Gemunu Watch, ensuring preparedness for any emergencies. Marking the conclusion of his visit, Commander Security Forces (West) signed the Brigade Visitors' Book to commemorate the visit.
