Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Commander Security Forces (West), presided as Chief Guest at a housewarming ceremony in Yatiyana. He officially handed over a newly constructed house to Mr. G.A. Saman Kumara and his family at Kotta Waththa.
The project was part of the Sri Lanka Army’s 75th-anniversary celebrations. It aligned with the vision of Lieutenant General H L V M Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army. It was executed under the leadership of Major General Lanka Amarapala and the 9th Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment completed the construction. The initiative was closely supervised by the General Officer Commanding of the 61 Infantry Division and the Commander of the 613 Infantry Brigade.
The construction was made possible with financial and material support from local donors. During the handover ceremony, Major General Lanka Amarapala formally presented the keys to the house and conveyed his best wishes to the family for a bright future.
Distinguished guests at the ceremony included Brigadier K T P De Silva RSP ndu psc, General Officer Commanding of the 61 Infantry Division, Brigadier S N M A B Arambepola RWP, Commander of the 613 Infantry Brigade, and Major H G J Jayaweera USP SLSR, Commanding Officer of the 9th Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment. Senior officers, government officials, donors, and villagers also attended, highlighting the collaborative effort behind the project.
This initiative demonstrates the Sri Lanka Army’s ongoing commitment to community welfare, showcasing how military expertise and public support can come together to improve the lives of those in need.
