COMMANDER SECURITY FORCES (WEST) MADE AN OFFICIAL VISIT TO BATTALION TRAINING SCHOOL KATUKELIYAWA

Marking the end of the battalion training of 1 Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps which was held from 20 September to 05 October 2022, the Commander Security Forces (West), Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP made an Official Visit to the Battalion Training School – Katukeliyawa on 04 November 2022.

The West Commander, was warmly welcomed to school premises by the General Officer Commanding 61 Infantry Division, along with the Commander of 612 Infantry Brigade and Chief Instructor of the School. Subsequently, the Chief Instructor of the training school introduced the Instructors of the school to the visiting Commander at the location.

Thereafter, the Commander Security Forces (West) inspected the surrounding of the camp, welfare of the instructors and the students and several key places at the school. Meanwhile, the West Commander also instructed the responsible officers on how to maintain the camp and expand infrastructure facilities in the future.

A few minutes later, the West Commander and other participants attended a comprehensive briefing on the role and tasks of the Battalion Training School, which was conducted by the Chief Instructor. Subsequently, addressing the instructors, the West Commander emphasized several key factors, including the method of instruction, instructor qualities and the necessity of improving the constant training which pave the path to develop the soldiers’ co – competencies to develop the skills of performing multiple tasks in order to face future security challenges of the nation. Afterward, the West Commander has been presented with a memento by the Chief Instructor on behalf of the instructor body of Battalion Training School – Katukeliyawa.

Covering the evening segments, Commander Security Forces (West) witnessed the demonstration on crowd disposal, which was conducted by the Officers and Other ranks of 1 Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps. Later on, marking the end of the Battalion training of 1 Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps and the day's visit, he has attended the final presentation that was presented by Army personnel of 1 SLAPC at the lecture hall followed by the troop address.

Brigadier General Staff, Colonel General Staff and several Staff Officers of Security Forces Headquarters (West) also accompanied the West Commander during the visit.
