Sri Lanka Army Inter Regiment Elle tournament (men) and Inter Battalion Elle tournament (women) - 2022 kicked off from 0900 onwards at Diyagama Mahinda Rajapaksha International Stadium on 14 November 2022.
Major General M K D B Pussella RWP RSP Commander Security Forces (West) and the Chairman of Sri Lanka Army Elle Committee graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and formally declared the opening of the tournament. Subsequently, the Chief Guest extended his warm wishes to all of the participants together with Director Sports and vice president of the Elle Committee.
More than 450 Elle players belonging to 16 Regiments of the Army, including five women's battalions, competiting for supremacy of the tournament during 14 – 21 November 2022. All matches will be played at the venue of Diyagama Mahinda Rajapaksha International Stadium and the Finals of the tournament will be played on 21 November 2022.
Furthermore, the prime objective of this Elle tournament is to select talented Elle players to the Army Elle Team forcensing on the upcoming Defense Services Elle Tournament - 2022 - 2023.
The opening ceremony was attended by Major General P M L Chandrasiri (Retd) WWV RWP RSP ndu, Director General (Project Admin and Maintenance) of Diyagama Mahinda Rajapaksha International Stadium, Director Army Sports, senior officers and members of the Sri Lanka Army Elle Committee.
