Over 180 Army personnel of the 14 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - West during 12 - 13 July contributed to the mega mosquito control programme in close coordination with respective Provincial and District authorities.
The project to match with the ongoing National Dengue Prevention Campaign got underway on the instructions of Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage, Commander, Security Forces - West and under the supervision of Major General Ralph Nugera, General Officer Commanding, 14 Division and Major General Sudath Pereira, General Officer Commanding, 58 Division.
In keeping with the Commander’s vision, those troops conducted mosquito control measures in selected vulnerable areas in Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara Districts.
District Secretariat officials, Medical Officers of Health, Public Health Inspectors, state employees and members of different voluntary organizations joined hands together with Army troops.
