Troops of the 14 Division under command to the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) who promptly rushed to Grandpass where a building has collapsed Wednesday (14) afternoon, injuring scores of people, are currently engaged in rescue and evacuation operations under the close supervision of Major General Ralph Nugera, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 14 Division.
Alert to the sudden accident, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army instructed Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage, Commander Security Forces – West (SF-West) to take necessary steps and attend to the immediate needs and other rescue operations as necessary.
All necessary measures in regard to the tragic incident have been taken by the Army.
