ARMY PERSONNEL TRAINED AS INSTRUCTORS FOR ‘DRUG PREVENTION’

Sri Lanka Army, throwing its full weight behind the national ‘Drug Eradication & Prevention Programme’ of the Presidential Task Force, is currently training Army personnel to serve as Instructors in island-wide school programmes on the same subject.

As part of this programme, the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) on the instructions of Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage, Commander, Security Forces - West launched one more training session for potential trainers on Tuesday (26) at the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Training School in Boossa with the participation of civil resource personnel and members of the Presidential Task Force for Eradication of Drugs.

Prof. Diyanath Samarasinghe, Dr Sanjeewa Rathnaweera and Mr M.M Thilakaratne of the Presidential Task Force at the invitation of the Army, delivered lectures to a total of 32 potential trainers and educated them on the campaign for drug eradication. Major General Sudath Perera, General Officer Commanding, 58 Division organized and supervised the full-day training session.

Upon completion of the training, those Army instructors would be sent to all schools in the Western Province to conduct lectures on the same subject as per directions of the Commander of the Army.
