On 07 October 2022, in parallel to World Children’s Day – 2022, a lot of school accessories were distributed among 65 children from low-income families who were suffering due to severe economic difficulties at Thevanuwara Primary School in Puttalam district under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding 14 Infantry Division and the initiative of 143 Infantry Brigade along with troops of 16 Battalion the Gajaba Regiment.
This community programme has been jointly conducted with District 306 B-1, Ja-Ela Pamunuwa Lions Club under the patronage of the Commander 143 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier T M F Kitchilan RWP RSP.
Other than the gift distribution, the event was consisted with collective sports exercises to strengthen unity among the children and an entertainment session has been organized after providing a nutritious lunch.
The Civil Affairs Officer of 143 Infantry Brigade, the Commanding Officer of 16 Battalion the Gajaba Regiment, Officers, Other Ranks, Officials of 306 B-1306 B-1, Ja-Ela Pamunuwa Lions Club and teachers of the school participated in this noble task.
