On Wednesday evening hours 09 March 2022, troops of the 8 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry under command to the 141 Infantry Brigade rushed to mitigate a fast-spreading bush fire in the general area Keragala, Danaukanda forest reservation, under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding of the 14 Infantry Division and directions of the Commander Security Forces (West) Major General K Liyange RWP RSP ndu.
Two officers and 40 Other Ranks of 8 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry rushed to the venue and provided expeditions assistance to douse the fire. The fire has caused damages to approximately two acres of prime forest.
