A contingent of Army personnel from 2 (V) Battalion Gemunu Watch of 613 Infantry Brigade under the Security Forces (West) conducted a Shramadana campaign at Ancient Yatagala Rajamaha Viharaya, Unawatuna on 20 July 2023, dedicating their time and effort towards the upkeep of this historic temple.
The primary focus of the campaign was to clean the surroundings of the temple, ensuring that it remains a peaceful and inviting place for devotees and visitors alike. The Army personnel worked tirelessly, removing litter and debris that had accumulated over a long time. Their dedication to maintaining cleanliness and preserving the temple's sanctity was truly admirable.
Additionally, the Army personnel took it upon themselves to tackle the issue of overgrown weeds that had encroached upon the temple premises. Thereby, with their effort, they carefully cut and removed these weeds, restoring the temple's beauty and ensuring that it remains well-maintained.
The project was totally monitored by the Commanding Officer of 2 (V) Battalion Gemunu Watch under the guidelines of the Commander 613 Infantry Brigade with the blessing of the Commander Security Forces (West).
Further, the temple authorities and local community also expressed their gratitude to the Army personnel for their selfless service.
