Due to bad weather conditions on 25th and 26th November 2024, which disrupted transportation in the Akuress, Malimbada, and Athuraliya Divisional Secretariat areas of the Matara District, troops of the 61 Infantry Division have been actively engaged in operations to facilitate transportation for students sitting for the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination.
Furthermore, with the involvement of troops from the 613 Infantry Brigade, 9th Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, and the 3 (V) Gemunu Watch, and the use of 04 Uni-Buffel vehicles, special transportation arrangements were made to ensure that school students could travel safely to their examination centers.
This initiative is being carried out under the continuous guidance of the General Officer Commanding 61 Infantry Division, who has provided necessary instructions to the troops to maintain the uninterrupted execution of these operations.
