The 15th anniversary of the 61 Infantry Division Headquarters of the Security Forces (West) was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervour on 29 and 30 May 2023, at the headquarters premises in Boossa. The two-day event saw a range of activities that served as a testament to the unwavering dedication and commitment of the troops stationed there.

On the first day of the event, a cricket tournament was organized at the headquarters playground with the participation of five teams. The tournament was a great opportunity for the troops to showcase their sporting prowess and also served as a platform for them to bond over a shared love for the game. At the same time, they also organized a special lunch treat for 12 elders residing at Sarvodaya Suwasetha Elders' Home, Hikkaduwa. This gesture of kindness and generosity was a true reflection of the selfless and compassionate nature of the troops.

The second day of the event on 30 May began with a Guard Turnout ceremony for the General Officer Commanding, Major General H. M. U. Herath RWP RSP USP hdmc psc. This was followed by the planting of a tree sapling in the premises as a token of remembrance. Afterwards, the General Officer Commanding addressed all the troops and thanked them for their unwavering dedication and commitment to duty. Then, he also participated in an All Rank lunch the same afternoon, bringing the day’s anniversary programme to an end.
