In line with the 14th National War Heroes Day as well as the up-coming 15 Divisional Day celebration of 61 Infantry Division, the old boys of Colombo Royal College,in collaboration with the old students of the University of Sri Jayawardenepura , organized a programme to distribute free school exercise books under the "Ranaviru Abhinandana Puja 2023' for the children of the other ranks and civil servants who are serving in 61 Infantry Division Headquarters in Boossa.
This noble initiative was taken on the instructions of the General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division and with the proper coordination of the Chief Organizer of the "Athahitha" organization and one of the old boys of the Colombo Royal College, Mr. Prabath Loku Balasuriya with the blessings of the Commander Security Forces (West).
The distribution ceremony was conducted under the patronage of the General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division at the Headquarters' premises on 23 May 2023. The distribution ceremony was well-organized by the Army personnel of 61 Infantry Division Headquarters, including the coordination of the beneficiaries.
Through this project, the children of 270 Other Ranks and 34 civil servants were benefited, with a pack value of Rs. 3750.00. The total cost of the project was around Rs. 990,000.00.
Further, this initiative was admirable as it recognized the sacrifices and contributions of the war heroes and their families. This project aims to provide them with the necessary support to continue their education.
