141 INFANTRY BRIGADE CONDUCTED A DISASTER MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP

With the coordination of the Disaster Management Unit-Gampaha, 141 Infantry Brigade organized and conducted a two-day training programme on 25 and 29 March 2022. on Disaster Management with the view of developing theoretical and practical knowledge required for Army personnel to react during future disasters in the 141 Infantry Brigade AOR.

On the first day of the programme (25 March 2022), Army personnel were educated theoretically and practically on flood relief measures such as general search and rescue missions, water rescue missions and first aid. Director-General of Disaster Management Centre Major General (Retired) S Ranasinghe RWP RSP MSc ndu psc, Assistant Director of Disaster Management Unit - Gampaha Mr Ajith Nishantha, several Officials of the Disaster Management Centre and Police personnel from lifeguard team Narahenpita also conducted lectures and discussions including training activities. This programme was conducted at the general area Nalla – Maoya.

On the second day of the programme was conducted at 6th Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery – Veyangoda on 29 March 2022. Thereby, soldiers were given lectures and practical demonstrations on how to utilize fire extinguishers by the District Assistant Director and several other officials of the Disaster Management Unit of Gampaha.

This programme was conducted under the close supervision of the Commander, 141 Infantry Brigade Brigadier S P G Gamage RWP RSP USP and participants were able to absorb adequate knowledge on the subjects. Sector Commanders, Commanding Officers and Other Ranks under command to the 141 Infantry Brigade participated for this two-day programme.
