In a commendable humanitarian initiative, the Yamuna Weerathunga Foundation organized a blood donation program on 30 January 2025, from 0900 hrs to 1500 hrs to support the daily blood requirements of cancer patients at the Maharagama Apeksha Hospital. This program was conducted with the aim of addressing the continuous need for blood transfusions, which are essential for cancer patients undergoing treatment, particularly those receiving chemotherapy and other intensive therapies.
Recognizing the importance of this cause, 14 Infantry Division, under the leadership and guidance of Major General K J N M P K Navaratne RWP RSP ndu, actively participated in this program. Responding to this noble call, a total of 110 soldiers from units under the 141 Infantry Brigade, 144 Infantry Brigade, and 612 Infantry Brigade voluntarily donated blood. Their selfless contribution highlights the Army’s unwavering commitment not only to national security but also to social welfare and humanitarian efforts.
Apeksha Hospital and the patients who benefit from these donations express their deepest gratitude to all those who participated in this initiative. Their generosity and compassion will undoubtedly make a lasting difference in the lives of many.
