14 Div Troops Actively Support ‘Dengue’ Prevention in Colombo
Troops of the Security Force Headquarters - West (SF HQ - West) on the instructions of the Ministry of Defence and the Army Headquarters actively contributed to the Dengue prevention campaign on Saturday (9) hand in hand with National Dengue Control Unit workers of the Health Ministry.
The team carefully inspected home compounds, drains, garbage collecting areas and other covered areas for possible mosquito-breeding places in the areas, adjacent to the President’s House, De Vos Avenue, Department of Registration of Persons and a few Housing Schemes in the Colombo District.
On the instructions of Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, SF HQ - West, the troops of the 14 Division (SF HQ-West) conducted the programme with the assistance of Medical Officers and Public Health Inspectors (PHI) in the area.
2 tractors of the Army were used to carry garbage and smoke vulnerable areas in order to prevent the breeding of Dengue mosquitoes.
