‘Sirasa Niwasa’ Builds One More House with the Help of 61 Infantry Division Troops

Troops of 8 Gemunu Watch under command to the 61 Infantry Division jointly constructed a new home for a needy family in Pallebedda, Rathnapura in collaboration with the MTV/MBC, ‘Sirasa’ Media network through its ‘Sirasa Niwasa’ project on the directions given by General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army after the project sponsors sought the Army assistance in this regard.

General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division enabled the technically-skilled engineering and other troops to complete the project along with Project Officer SFHQ (West) with funds and resources, made available by the ‘Sirasa Niwasa’ project.

Maj Gen Dhammi Hewage graced the auspicious inaugural house-warming as the Chief Guest, together with Mrs Needra Weerasinghe, Group Director of Capital Maharaja Company on Friday (12) February 2021. Commander 611 infantry brigade, Project Officer SFHQ (West) and Commanding Officer 8 GW joined the event along with other Senior Officers.
