‘Dengue’ Prevention Programmes in Western and Southern Provinces Baked by Army
On the directions of the Army Headquarters, a Dengue eradication programme was launched with the cooperation from the National Dengue Eradication Unit in vulnerable areas in the Western Province during July 13-15.
The eradication programme was held on the supervision of Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces – West (SF-West).
Troops of the 14 Division and 58 Division with the participation of medical officers and Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) in the western province conducted the prevention programme.
157 Army personnel, including 5 officers and 152 other ranks of the 14 Division participated in the prevention programme in Kelaniya, Dompe, Aththanagalla, Borella, Kaduwela, Maharagama, Homagama and nearby areas.
In the meantime, 110 other ranks of the 58 Division participated in another Dengue prevention campaign in Neluwa, Imaduwa, Udugama, Akmimana, Habaraduwa, Baddegama, Ambalangoda, Hikkaduwa, Induruwa and surrounding areas.
