The Buddhist Media Channel organized a successful social welfare programme at the Navatkuliya Samiddhi Sumana Temple on 28 March 2026. The event began with a Dharma Deshana for the community. This initiative also included the donation of essential furniture and equipment to the temple to support its daily activities.
The programme provided significant support for education and the local community. The organizers donated two library cupboards, sports equipment, and books to Navatkuliya School, while 100 students received school book sets. Additionally, 50 villagers were given relief packs and 10 pregnant mothers received nutrition packs. To assist those with specific needs, a wheelchair was donated to a woman with a disability and 10 farmers received agricultural tools for their work. The programme concluded with a mid-day alms giving for 10 Buddhist monks.
The troops of the 11 Field Engineer Regiment successfully carried out this project under the leadership and guidance of the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel DMRC Dunusinghe psc SLE. Through the hard work of the military personnel, the event was a great success for the Navatkuliya community.
