As part of the Clean Sri Lanka Initiative, troops from 14 Gajaba Regiment joined forces with students, parents, and members of the local community to conduct a comprehensive cleaning programme at the playground of Osmania College, Jaffna, on 9th February 2026.
The initiative, implemented by 51 Infantry Division under the command of Major General MR Razick RSP ndu and the strategic direction of Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna), demonstrates the Army's commitment to the national Clean Sri Lanka campaign through active community engagement.
The cleaning programme was undertaken in response to a request from the school principal to prepare the grounds ahead of the school's upcoming sports meet. Personnel from 14 Gajaba Regiment, operating under the command of 512 Infantry Brigade, worked alongside the school community to restore the playground to a condition conducive for sporting activities. The collaborative effort saw enthusiastic participation from students, parents, and local residents, exemplifying the spirit of the Clean Sri Lanka Initiative, which encourages collective responsibility for maintaining public spaces and community facilities.
The programme represents a practical expression of the Army's support for the Clean Sri Lanka Initiative in the Northern Province, combining infrastructure development with community welfare through meaningful engagement with educational institutions. The successful completion of the initiative has ensured that Osmania College's playground is now ready to host the school's forthcoming sports meet, benefiting students and the wider school community whilst advancing the objectives of the national cleanliness campaign.
