Troops of the 51 Infantry Division under Security Force Headquarters Jaffna continued their community assistance operations across the Jaffna Peninsula on 11 December 2025, marking the eighth consecutive day of sustained CIMIC oriented tasks in support of communities affected by the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah and prevailing adverse weather conditions. All three brigades under command remained fully engaged in cleaning programmes, well restoration activities and the rehabilitation of educational and residential areas across the Division area of responsibility.
Under the 511 Infantry Brigade, troops continued to address essential public requirements in flood affected localities. At J/187 Sanguweli, a team of 01 officer with 06 soldiers of 15 Sri Lanka National Guard Battalion restored a contaminated public well ensuring the availability of safe water for families impacted by the recent weather conditions. In the J/254 Antonypuram area of Palali North, 01 officer with 12 soldiers of 9 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment conducted a comprehensive cleaning programme at Antonypuram Pre School restoring the facility for resumed use by schoolchildren and staff.
Under the 512 Infantry Brigade, troops of the 14 Gajaba Regiment carried out a large-scale cleaning effort along the Pannai Lagoon belt, where 01 officer with 20 soldiers were deployed to restore the lagoon frontage and its surrounding environment. In the Ariyalai South East area, another well restoration task was carried out at 12th Cross Lane under the guidance of the local Grama Niladhari. A team of 01 officer with 10 soldiers from 17 Gemunu Watch effectively restored the well to a clean and usable condition, supporting the water needs of families in the area.
Under the 513 Infantry Brigade, troops continued essential support to families and institutions affected by persistent wet weather. At Manippay South, 01 officer with 15 soldiers of 11 Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment carried out a cleaning and restoration programme at Manippay Girls College, ensuring the school premises were fully rehabilitated for routine academic activities. In J/212 Mallakam, a dedicated team of 01 officer with 10 soldiers from 10 Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment assisted residents in cleaning flood affected houses, helping restore basic living conditions for families whose homes had been affected by heavy rainfall.
As community assistance operations progressed into their eighth consecutive day, troops of the 51 Infantry Division continued to demonstrate persistent commitment to the wellbeing and safety of communities across the Jaffna Peninsula, restoring essential services, supporting the resumption of day to day activities and contributing to the wider recovery efforts across the region.
