Troops of the 51 Infantry Division under Security Force Headquarters Jaffna continued their community assistance operations across the Jaffna Peninsula on 8 December 2025, marking the sixth consecutive day of sustained CIMIC oriented activities as the Division remained committed to assisting communities affected by the recent adverse weather. Troops from all three brigades under command carried out well cleaning, cleaning programmes at public facilities and water supply assistance while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the civilian population within the Division area of responsibility.
Under the 511 Infantry Brigade, troops of the 15 Sri Lanka National Guard Battalion cleaned a public well at J/198 Chunnakam Town Central deploying 01 officer with 10 soldiers to support families affected by flood water in the area. In addition, troops of the 9 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment conducted a cleaning programme at the GTM School in J/254 Palali North, Anthonypuram. A total of 02 officers with 15 soldiers were engaged in this task, ensuring the premises were restored for the benefit of students and staff following the recent adverse conditions.
Under the 512 Infantry Brigade, troops of the 17 Gemunu Watch Regiment conducted a well cleaning and chlorination programme at J/68 Reclamation East, Anjimahal, Gurunagar, with the support of the Public Health Inspector of the area. A team of 01 officer with 10 soldiers participated in the operation, contributing to the restoration of clean and safe water for the local community. Meanwhile, troops of the 14 Gemunu Regiment carried out a cleaning programme at Navanthurei Jetty, Navanthurei North, employing 01 officer with 10 soldiers to restore the jetty area for civilian use and improve safety and cleanliness along the waterfront.
Under the 513 Infantry Brigade, troops of the 11 Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment extended further support to flood affected communities through a water distribution programme conducted in Kalundai Village, covering the areas of J/135 Navaly East and J/136 Navaly South. A team of 01 officer with 07 soldiers operated a water bowser to distribute purified water to residents, ensuring uninterrupted access to safe drinking water during this period of recovery.
As community assistance operations extended into their sixth consecutive day, troops of the 51 Infantry Division continued to demonstrate resolute commitment to supporting the civilian population across the Jaffna Peninsula. Through sustained efforts in well restoration, cleaning operations and essential service support, the Division remained dedicated to strengthening community resilience and restoring normalcy across all affected areas.
