Sri Lanka Army troops operating under the 52 Infantry Division have intensified humanitarian assistance to communities affected by the island-wide Cyclone Ditwa, following a request from the Chavakachcheri Divisional Secretary.
Responding swiftly, troops supported the preparation and distribution of meals across 12 designated safety centers, ensuring displaced families received timely relief and essential care.
In parallel, Army teams cleared fallen trees that had obstructed the Jaffna–Colombo A9 Main Supply Route (MSR) as well as several other vital access roads, restoring safe and uninterrupted passage for emergency services and civilians.
Additionally, troops undertook urgent stabilization work on the Maradankeni Bridge, reinforcing both embankments with sandbags to prevent further deterioration and ensure continued use during the severe weather conditions.
The 52 Infantry Division remains fully committed to supporting civil authorities and safeguarding the well-being of affected communities throughout the ongoing disaster response operations.
