Handed Over Renovation Building of St. Joesph’s College, Madagal

The 51 Infantry Division, headquarter located in Kopay, Jaffna, continues to spearhead Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activities under “Clean Sri Lanka” project to enhance the livelihoods of people within its area of responsibility. As part of this ongoing effort, under the visionary guidances of Major General Manada Yahampath, the Commander, of Security Force Jaffna and the directives of Major General Nishantha Muthumala, the General Officer Commanding of 51 Infantry Division, troops of the 10th Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery under the command of 513 Infantry Brigade undertook the renovation of the main building and painting other class room buildings at St. Joseph’s College, Madagal.

This meaningful project was generously supported by Major General Ravi Rathnasingam (Rtd) and Sri Lankan expatriates living in Canada, whose contributions made the renovation possible. Their support exemplifies the strength of global Sri Lankan unity and a shared commitment to uplift local communities. The rejuvenated school building stands as a testament to this unity and the collaborative efforts of both the military and civilian supporters.

A ceremony to hand over the newly renovated facility to the students was held on 07 April 2025. at the St. Joesph’s College, Madagal. Major General Manada Yahampath, Commander of Security Forces Jaffna, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Adding further glamour to the day, 50 school bags were distributed among students from low income families, ensuring that the initiative extended beyond infrastructure to directly benefiting the children’s education. The event marked another milestone in fostering goodwill and development through civil military harmony in the Jaffna peninsula.
