51 Infantry Division Leads Community Initiative at Mathagal St. Josaph College

The 51 Infantry Division, stationed in Jaffna Kopay, has taken proactive steps in community development through its Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) efforts. In adherence to the directives from the Commander of the Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna, the division has collaborated with local donors to enhance the living conditions of the surrounding community. One of the key initiatives under the "Clean Sri Lanka" project saw the involvement of soldiers from the 10th Battalion of Sri Lanka Artillery in a cleaning and painting effort at Mathagal St. Josaph College, a significant educational institution in the region. This project not only revitalized the school's environment but also instilled a sense of community pride and engagement among students, parents, and the local population.

Major General MPNA Muthumala, the General Officer Commanding of the 51 Infantry Division, commended the collaborative efforts of all involved, emphasizing that this initiative exemplifies the strong and enduring relationship between the military and the local community. He reiterated the division’s unwavering commitment to fostering education and community development in the Northern Province. The project was further supported by generous contributions from local donors, who provided essential resources to ensure its success.

The "Clean Sri Lanka" project has significantly contributed to improving the local environment, reaffirming the Sri Lanka Army’s dedication to peace building and regional development. The success of this initiative has paved the way for future projects aimed at sustaining and expanding community development efforts, reinforcing the army’s role as a key partner in regional progress and stability.
