Coinciding with the 75th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army, troops of 553 Infantry Brigade conducted a successful sramadana campaign at Tharmapuram Hospital on 10 October 2024. This initiative was driven by the visionary concept of Colonel WAIS Mendis RSP USP, Commander of 553 Infantry Brigade, who aimed to engage the military in community-oriented projects, strengthening ties between the Army and the local population.
The campaign was supported by the troops of 6th Battalion, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and 14th Sri Lanka National Guard. They have contributed their time and efforts to refurbishing and cleaning the hospital premises, which serves hundreds of patients from the local area.
The hospital authorities expressed their gratitude to the soldiers for their hard work and dedication. They highlighted how this effort would directly benefit the hospital staff and the local community by improving the overall condition of the healthcare facility.
