Dharmaraja College, Kandy and Hindu College, Jaffna held an event “A – 9 Fusion Cultural and Sports Collaboration” at Hindu College, Jaffna premises on Friday, 23 August with an aim of broadening friendship and mutual understanding. The comprehensive programme was organised to promote bond between children who grow up in culturally and linguistically diverse communities, located on either end of the fabled A9 Highway.
A friendly cricket encounter and cultural show of students of both the schools were organised and an art exhibition of watercolour, caricature, cartoon and line art under the theme ‘Brush Strokes of Serenity’ by renowned artist and past pupil of Dharmaraja College, Mr.Ranjana Ekanayake added to colour the day’s agenda.
In response to the invitation of ‘Old Boyes Union’ of Darmaraja College, Major General MGWWWMCB Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, past pupil of Dharmaraja College and the Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) graced the occasion to motivate the youngsters of both the schools.
Jaffna Commander, as a past pupil, played a significant role in joining both schools in collaboration with the ‘Old Boys Union’, Colombo Branch and this event signified a unique milestone of country’s education sector and to draw public awareness towards creating a better society for children.
Mr. Romesh Kaluwitharana – the former Sri Lankan Cricket legend, Mr. Kamal Ariyasinghe - the Principal of Darmaraja College, Mr. Ratnam Senthilmaran - the Principal of Hindu College – Jaffna, teachers, old pupils and students of both the schools and several other invitees attended to witness the Cultural Fusion Show 2024.
