Professor K Paheerethan and Dr. J Arasakesary from Department of Agriculture Biology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna along the delegation visited Army Farm (Jaffna) on26 March in order to uplift and elevate the cultivation at the farm.
The visiting delegation was warmly welcomed by the Brigadier Admin and Quartering, Brigadier K Weerasinghe USP at the farm premises. Subsequently the visiting delegation paid a site visit and inspected the cultivation, further discussed with the farmers on problematic areas in cultivation of chilli, capsicum, pumpkin, long bean and maize etc…. After wards given their expert ideas and knowledge to farmers in order to develop the crop for better harvest.
Later, the academic staffpays a courtesy call on the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General MGWWWMCB Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc at his office.
The Jaffna Commanderlent a hearty welcomeand had a fruitful discussion in order to develop cultivation at Army Farm (Jaffna) and Green House at Headquarters, Security Forces (Jaffna). During the discussion, he emphasized the impotency of conducting workshops and awareness programmesto farmers those, who works in the farm aiming better harvest in future.
