A large gathering of youngsters and civilians flocked to the Kankesanthurai coastal area on 04th February 2024 to witness and enjoy a mammoth kite - flying festival, held along the beach as a novel feature to the commemoration of 76th Independence Day.
Troops of the Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna, in close collaboration with 511 Infantry Brigade took the initiative in this regard following guidelines given by the Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc.
More than fifty kites produced to the festival by civil and military members were flown to the skies in the presence of Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc. Troops offered ice cream to the participants during the festival and adding more glamour, a musical show was organized where children were provided with the opportunity to showcase their talent in singing and dancing.
Civilians who witnessed the festival paid their gratitude to the Commander and all Security Forces members in the peninsula for military contribution, provided to decorate the festival.
