The foundation stone laying ceremony for the shrine room of Sri Samiddhi Sumana temple at Nawatkuli was held on 13 January 2024. Major General SRK Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, Commander Security Forces - Jaffna graced the ceremony as the chief guest. This construction was initiated under the direction of Major General YABM Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, General Officer Commanding of 52 Infantry Division, and coordinated by Lieutenant Colonel RMB Rathnayake USP, overlooking Commander of 523 Infantry Brigade with the assistance of Lieutenant Colonel KGCK Kudagamage, the Officer and troops 11th Sri Lanka Engineers. Mrs. Nushaka Kumari Dharmakeerthi, the Honorable Chief Judge of Ampara District financially contributed for the construction of new shrine room. Civilians of Nawatkuli area also participated for the ceremony.
