51 Infantry Division organized a Christmas Carol at St. Mary’s Cathedral of Jaffna Bishop's House to enhance trust and confidence among military and community in order to address the cultural and ethnic deference in the area under the guidance of General Officer Commanding - 51 Infantry Division, Major General Vajira Welegedera on 24 December 2023.
During the event, gifts and sweets were distributed for more than 1000 children with the contribution of all under command Brigades and Battalions of 51 Infantry Division along with the help of donors in the presence of Right Rev. Doctor Justin Bernad Gnanapragasam, Bishop of Jaffna diocese.
This charming event encompasses a mix of all cultural identities denoting the ethnic / religious harmony in the area. The carol songs were sung by school carol teams with the music of Army band. Christian devotees greatly appreciated and commended the efforts of the Sri Lanka Army and more than two thousand people gathered for the event.
