Continuing with its community assistance projects, troops of 551 Infantry Brigade, on the guidelines of Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, Commander Security Forces - Jaffna once again extended their helping hands to laid the foundation stone to erect another new house for a well-deserving family of Mrs Padmanandan Radhika in Udayanagar East, Kilinochchi on Thursday, 14th December 2023 in the presence of Mr Balasundram Jeyaharan, Divisional Secretary Karachchi as the Chief Guest.
The much-needed financial assistance is extended by Dr Sriya Duraiyappah who resides in USA in memory of Dr William Nawaratnarajah Duraiyappah and facilitated by Wanni Aid Canada under the coordination of Major General Ravi Ratnasingham (Rtd). Troops of 7th Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry provides the much-needed manpower and technical expertise for the construction work under the supervision of the Commander 551 Brigade, Brigadier Jude Kariyakarawana with the guidance of General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division, Major General Nalin Jayawardene.
The day's brief ceremony concluded with planting of a tree Sapling and a distribution of dry ration packets to the beneficiaries by the Chief Guest. Commanders of 552 and 553 Infantry Brigades, Colonel General Staff - 55 Infantry Division, Senior Officers, SSP Ajith Gunarathne (Rtd) - ASP Kilinochchi, other invitees, and several civilians attended the ceremony.
