The traditional Katina Pooja of the historical Tissa Raja Maha Vihara in Kankesanthurai, was held with a series of religious observances under the patronage of the Chief Incumbent of the temple, Ginthota Nandarama Thero in the presence of a large gathering of devotees.
This year’s event was patronized by the troops of Forward Maintenance Area (FMA) North, under the guidance of the FMA Commander with the blessings of the Commander Security Forces Jaffna. Police and the Police Special Task Force extended their untiring support to the success of the religious event.
In the eve of 05 November 2023, a Bodhi Puja Pinkama, Dhamma sermon and Pirith Chanting were conducted with the participation of a large number of devotees. At the end of the Bodhi Puja, “Those” was served under the patronage of Mr. Karunadharan, Director of Sanhedia, Northern Province for all devotees who were present. The religious programme was concluded with offering of ‘Heel Daana’ (breakfast) and 'Atapirikara' to Bhuddist priests and Katinanisansa Sermon by the Chief Incumbent of the Temple, the following morning.
