The most recently appointed General Officer Commanding of 55 Infantry Division, Major General RKNC Jayawardena RSP ndc of Sri Lanka Light Infantry assumed duties on 17th August 2023 at his office in Divisional Headquarters in Kilinochchi.
The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers and saluted in a Guard Turnout at the entrance before he was invited to receive the salute Guard of Honour, presented by 14 Sri Lanka National Guard troops.
In his new office, the incoming GOC placed his signature in an official document to mark the assumption of duties. Then he engaged in posing for several group photographs and symbolically planted a sapling within the confines of Division. The formal address to the Officers and Other Ranks followed after an All Ranks Tea and lunch with Officers at the Officers’ Mess before the day’s proceedings ended.
