The 31st death anniversary of the legendry military leader in the Sri Lankan Military History, Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa RWP RSP VSV USP rcds psc and several other military War Heroes were commemorated at Araly Point Monument, Kayts with the participation of the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General SRK Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc and Senior Officers of Tri services on 08th August 2023. The ceremony was conducted under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding 51 Infantry Division Major General SWB Welagedara RSP VSV USP ndu.
The day’s proceedings instigated with a two-minute silence observed in honour of the War Heroes who laid their lives for the motherland. Later, laying floral wreaths to the Araly Points Monument, Kayts took place by the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General SRK Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc and Senior Officers of Tri Forces.
Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa gallant war hero along with a team of renowned military commanders, Major General Wijaya Wimalaratne, Rear Admiral Mohan Jayamaha, Colonel HP Stephen, Colonel GH Ariyaratne, Colonel YN Palipana, Commander Asanga Lankathilaka, Lieutenant Colonel Nalin de Alwis, Lieutenant Commander CB Wijepura and Corporal Wickremarathne WJ were caught to a land mine blast at Araly Point on 08 August 1992 while they were on a military assignment in Araly, Jaffna.
Commander Forward Maintenance Area (North), Brigadier Admin and Quartering and Brigadier Coord (Volunteer) of Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna), Brigade Commanders, Deputy Area Commander of Sri Lanka Navy, Senior Staff Officers of Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna), Officers of tri-forces and troops participated as representatives.
