S/71938 Velupille Amaranadan, who was born on 28th October 1934 residing at Kodikamam North Grama Niladhari Division was enlisted to the Sri Lanka Army on 04th July 1955 having studied at Chavakachcheri Tribad College until GCE (O/L). Upon enlistment, he was posted to 1st Ceylon Light Infantry Regiment and having completed 12 years of service in the Regular Force he was retired on 13th April 1967.
This soldier was passed away on 12th May 2023 at the age of 89 years. As per the instructions of the Army, the body was cremated awarding a No 3 funeral at Kudamiyan Public Cemetery Kodikamam, Jaffna on 14th May 2023.
The No 3 funeral was arranged by the 9 SLLI Battalion and Senior Officers of 52 Infantry Division, Commander 521 Infantry Brigade and troops of 9 SLLI ,15 (V) Gajaba Regiment attended the funeral.
