An educational lecture to enlighten Army personnel on “Drug Addiction and Prevention from such Habitual Acts” was conducted at Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) on 19th March 2023. This awareness programme was launched on the instructions of Major General Swarna Bothota, the Commander of Security Forces (Jaffna).
Chief Inspector WK Ruwan Kumara, OIC at Katunayake Airport Unit and Inspector of Police (IP) NM Lakshman Edirimanna, OIC Training Police Narcotic Bureau conducted lectures during the programme. A total number of 27 Officers and 300 Other Ranks attended the lectures that went on for 8 hours.
In coinciding with the awareness programme, 55 Infantry Division under the supervision of General Officer Commanding, Major General Prasanna Gunarathne organized the same lecture on 20th March 2023 with the participation of 29 Officers and 410 Other Ranks at headquarters premises conducted by Chief Inspector WK Ruwan Kumara and Inspector of Police (IP) NM Lakshman Edirimanna.
The two days lecture programme successfully culminated in educating a considerable number of Army personnel as an activity aiming to promote community service.
