52 Infantry Division Troops Reopen a Preschool

The Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General DBSN Bothota RWP RSP USP psc, in his first visit to the Sinhala Village Navatkuli initiated a philanthropic project to reopen the ‘Lakdaru Preschool’ located at Navatkuli, Jaffna, where a Sinhala Community peacefully coexists with the Northern Tamil Community.

Major General DBSN Bothota RWP RSP USP psc, Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna), together with Major General KPSA Fernando RWP RSP ndu, General Officer Commanding - 52 Infantry Division, provided much-needed guidance to the success of the event. All the arrangements for this community project was coordinated under the close supervision of Colonel KASK Siriwardana RWP RSP USP, Commander, 523 Infantry Brigade and Lieutenant Colonel EDM Jayakantha, Civil Affairs Officer 52 Infantry Division.

Mrs Janaki Liyanage, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) at Army Headquarters, provided 16 packs of essential school accessories each worth of Rs 5000.00, for all children of the Lakdaru Preschool, based on the request made by Mrs Harshani Bothota, President-Armour Ladies Club (ALC).

The lighting of the traditional oil lamp set the Lakdaru Preschool’s proceedings began at an auspicious time on Thursday, 26th January 2023. The Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) attended the occasion as the Chief Guest and distributed school accessories to the children with General Officer Commanding 52 Infantry Division.
