Major General Swarna Bothota, the newly-appointed Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) made his maiden visits to 51, 52 and 55 Infantry Divisions during 28, 29 and 30 December 2022.
The Commander firstly arrived at the Headquarters 51 Infantry Division, Kopay and received by Major General Wajira Welagedara, General Officer Commanding 51 Infantry Division before the visiting Commander was greeted to a Drive Pass at the main entrance in conformity with military traditions.
Afterwards, the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) on 29 Thursday and 30 Friday arrived to Headquarters of 52 Infantry Division, Mirusuvil and 55 Infantry Division, Kaddaikadu. During those visits too were greeted to a Drive Pass salute at respective Headquarters. Major General Sanjeewa Fernando, General Officer Commanding, 52 Infantry Division and Major General Prasanna Gunarathne, General Officer Commanding, 55 Infantry Division received the new Commander.
During the visits the Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) addressed the troops and elaborated on the requirement of ensuring the unity among Officers and Other Ranks in order to achieve the organizational mission and vision whilst developing the reconciliation among the Army and Tamil community. Further, he expressed the importance of preserving the image of the Army through maintenance of highest standards of discipline at all levels. The troop addresses were followed by planting of saplings as a symbol of memory inside Headquarters premises and the Commander posed for group photographs. During these three-day field visits the Commander had interaction sessions with the troops followed by All Ranks tea sessions where they had the opportunity to discuss matters pertaining to uplift the well-being of our troops in Jaffna.
In line with the visits of Division Headquarters, the newly-appointed Security Forces Commander (Jaffna) visited the Brigades, Under Command Units and the Battalion Training School.
Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Admin and Quartering, Colonel General Staff of Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna), Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers and troops were associated with the chain of events.
