Continuing with its Community Assistance Projects under the guidance of Major General Prasanna Gunaratne, General Officer Commanding - 55 Infantry Division, troops of 551 Infantry Brigade laid the foundation stone to erect yet another new house for a underprivileged family in the Thunnalai South, Karaveddy on 10 December 2022. Financial assistance provided by overseas based Ms. Thabitha Chinnaiah in memory of Joy Arulrajah, Son of Rev. Ms Chinniah.
Brigadier Chinthaka Wikramasinghe, Commander 551 Infantry Brigade graced the brief ceremony as the Chief Guest and Colonel General Staff - 55 Division, Senior Officers, Mrs Umakanthan Sivaswami, Assistant Divisional Secretary Karaveddy, Mr S Satkunarajah, Director Early Childhood Development, Northern Province, other invitees and civilians attended the event.
Troops of 4th Battalion of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment provides much-needed manpower and technical expertise for the construction of the house where the project is coordinated by Major General Ravi Rathnasingham (Retired) who has now coordinated number of such Community Assistance Projects for the betterment of the people in the area through Army troops.
