Continuing with its Community Assistance projects, troops of 551 Infantry Brigade, on the guidelines of Major General Chandana Wijayasundara, Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) once again extended their helping hands to laid the foundation stone to erect another new house for a well deserving family in the Thumpalai, Point Pedro on Thursday, 24 November 2022 in the presence of Brigadier Clifford de Zoysa, Commander- Forward Maintenance Area (North) as the Chief Guest.
The much - needed financial assistance was extended by Vanni Aid & Tamil Church of Living Savior (Canada) and facilitated by Modara/Mattakkuliya Lions Club under the coordination of Major General Ravi Rathnasingham (Retired). Troops serving under Headquarters of 551 Infantry Brigade provides the manpower and technical expertise for the construction work under the supervision of the Commander 551 Brigade, Brigadier Chinthaka Wickramasinghe with the guidance of General Officer Commanding of 55 Infantry Division, Major General Prasanna Gunaratne .
The day's brief ceremony concluded with a distribution of dry ration packets to the beneficiaries by the Chief Guest. Commander of 551 Infantry Brigade, Colonel General Staff - 55 Division, Senior Officers, Mr. AlvaipillaiSiri – Divisional Secretary Point Pedro, other respectable invitees and civilians attended the ceremony.
