An Army initiative, taken by the 55 Infantry Division resulted in the donation of a sewing machine to a necessitous but courageous widow, Maduran Nadiya (Age 36) resident in the general area of Kevil in Jaffna under command to 55 Infantry Division on 29th October 2022 as an effort to bring economic stability and empowering the well deserving family. Further, the troops of 55 Infantry Division extended their support to make a proper place for tailoring with the intention of laying the foundation strengthening the backbone of the family and the bedrock of a Nation.
The sewing machine worth of Rs. 175000.00 donated in response to the request made to the General Officer Commanding of 55 Infantry Division, Major General Prasanna Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG by the widow of two daughters in the ages of 16 and 12 and a son at the age of 4, who lost her husband recently in an accident.
