As per the direction of the General Officer Commanding of 51 Infantry Division, Major General Mahendra Fernando all Kovils in Jaffna were arranged for the Deepavali festival for the devotees to attend the rituals with comfortness along with the respective priests by the under command Brigades.
Accordingly, 511, 512, 513 and 515 Brigades flourishingly conducted a Sramadana, 2 days prior to Deepavali in 69 Kovils. Further, Kovil premises were lit up with hundreds of multi-coloured bulbs while adding festive glitter to the day, cleaned Kovils by re-arranging the Kovil land with sand and provided security on 23 and 24 of October 2022. Further, on the day of the festival, Officers and Soldiers took part in Poojas in respective Kovils.
Hindu devotees highly appreciated, commended the efforts by the Sri Lanka Army and their participation for this religious event to make the day consequential.
