Chief of Defence Staff Paid a Visit to Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna)

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, visited the Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) on 14 October 2022 and was received by Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu, the Security Forces Commander Jaffna on arrival at the Sri Lanka Air Force Station Palaly.

In accordance with military formalities, the Chief of Defence Staff received a colour - rich Drive Pass at the entrance to the Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) and the day’s itinerary began.

Afterwards, the Chief of Defence Staff addressed Officers and Other Ranks of Security Forces in the Jaffna Peninsula and expressed his gratitude towards the troops, who patronized him in various developments launched by General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil and for their untiring contribution given to him for discharging duties vested on him with utmost satisfaction. Further expressed his contentedness towards the Sri Lanka Army for engaging in operations during the COVID-19 pandemic where we were able interconnect with majority of people through winning the hearts and minds. Simultaneously, the Chief of Defence Staff underlined the essentiality of continuing cooporation for the newly appointed Commander of the Army to discharge his duties.

Subsequently, towards the end of the address, Major General Chandana Wijayasundera RSP USP ndu, Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) on behalf of All Ranks presented a symbolic memento to the day's Chief Guest and appreciated his presence in Jaffna in order to meet the troops. Then the Chief of Defence Staff posed for a group photograph with respective Senior Officers, Officers serving under the Security Forces (Jaffna) symbolizing the significance of this special day.

The event was successfully culminated with the participation of all General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks.
