In order to help improve English language profeciency of the students in Palaly North Government Mix Tamil School (GMTS), the Security Force Headquarters (Jaffna) under an Army-designed “English Language Skill Development “ launched a programme to teach English for students of Grade 1-5 on Sunday, the 25 September 2022.
As per the concept of the Commander Security Force Headquarters(Jaffna), Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu, Captain Roshni Ranasinghe, the English Instructor at Security Force Headquarters (Jaffna) will conduct the classes every Sunday between 2-4 p.m at the “Ambalama” at T-Junction.
The main objective of the programme is to help children to enhance profeciency in English as their language standards remain relatively poor according to parents and teachers. The 511 Infantry Brigade provided transportation facility for the children to reach the location where the English Class is conducted. At the end of the class a packet of meal is distributed among the children.
The inauguration ceremony of the teaching programme which is also a civil-military cooporation project took place on Sunday (25) with the participation of the Principal of Palaly North Government Mix Tamil School (GMTS), teachers, 20 children from the school, Senior Officers and Officers. The project received the blessing of the Commander Security Force Headquarters and it would help promote reconcilliation and goodwill between the Security Forces (Jaffna) and the civil community.
