Legendary War Hero, Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa and other War Heroes Remembered

The 30th death anniversary of Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa and several other military War Heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country took place on Monday, 08 August 2022 and the ceremony was conducted under the supervision of 51 Infantry Division and amidst military honours at the monument in Araly and Major General KPSA Fernando RWP RSP ndu, General Officer Commanding of 52 Infantry Division participated as the Chief Guest and Many senior officers were participated including Major General MKUP Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division, Commodore KKIU Kasiwaththa RSP the Deputy Area Commander of Northern Province, Wing Commander BP Widanapathirana psc the Second in Commander of Air Force Base - Palaly.

Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa, one of the finest warriors ever-produced by the Army in our contemporary history, fell silent on 08 August 1992, along with a few more fellow military veterans and soldiers, Major General Wijaya Wimalarathne, Rear Admiral Mohan Jayamaha, Colonel HP Stephen, Colonel YN Palipana, Colonel GH Ariyarathne, Lieutenant Colonel Nalin de Alwis, Lieutenant Commander Asanga Lankathilaka, Lieutenant Commander CB Wijepura and Corporal Wickramarathne W J while they were on a military assignment in Araly, Jaffna.

Floral wreath - laying and heralding the Last Post brought the day’s commemorative event to an end. A gathering of grateful Officers, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Navy and Air Force Officers were participated as representatives.
