Newly Appointed Commander, Security Forces Jaffna Assumes Duties

Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu assumed duties as 28th Commander of Security Force Headquarters – Jaffna on 12th June 2022 during a brief ceremony.

In accordance with military traditions, Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu reviewed the Guard Turnout and received the salute of the Guard of Honour, presented by the troops of the Sri Lanka Army Engineers, after his arrival at the SFHQ (J) premises. He placed his signature in the first document to mark assuming duties, amidst chanting of Seth Pirith in the presence of general officer commanding of 51, 52, 55 Infantry Divisions, Commander Forward Maintenance Area (North) and Senior Staff Officers of Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna.

Religious dignitaries of Hindu, Catholic and Islam were also present during the taking over formalities and blessed him for his new appointment. He planted a mango sapling making his appointment as the Commander Security Forces Jaffna. This was followed a group photograph.

Later, new Jaffna Commander attended the commemoration of fallen War Heroes of the Armed Forces who served under Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna and floral tribute was offered to those heroes at the Palaly War Heroes' Monument with the participation of Senior Officers and Other Ranks of the Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna).
