Major General KAA Udaya Kumara RSP USP USAWC psc of Sri Lanka Engineers assumed duties as the 31st General Officer Commanding of the 51 Infantry Division Headquarters in Kopay on Tuesday (7).
The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding of the 51 Infantry Division was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers on his arrival and honoured in a Guard Turnout and Guard of Honour presented by 10 Sri Lanka Artillery troops.
Afterwards, the new GOC was invited to the office and placed his signature in an official document to mark the assumption of his duties, amidst 'Seth Pirith' chanting of the Maha Sanga. Subsequently, Major General Udaya Kumara was invited to plant a Mango sapling in HQ premises.
Later on, the new GOC addressed all the Officers and Other Ranks serving the 51 Infantry Division and briefed outlined his plan of action in the days to come.
Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers of the 51 Infantry Division, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Rankers were also present during the day's event.
